Jakarta — Deputy Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Eddy Soeparno, stated that the successful release of Indonesian citizens previously detained by Israeli authorities reflects the government’s firm commitment to protecting its nationals wherever they are.

He expressed appreciation to President Prabowo Subianto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and all relevant government institutions for their swift and effective diplomatic efforts that led to the citizens’ release.

“I extend my highest appreciation to President Prabowo, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and all government officials for their prompt, precise, and effective diplomacy, ensuring that our citizens were released safely and in good health. This demonstrates the state’s strong commitment to safeguarding its people,” Eddy said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

Eddy also conveyed gratitude following the release of the Indonesian citizens, who are currently preparing to return to the country.

“We are grateful for the safe release of our fellow citizens. They are now being prepared for their return to Indonesia. We pray that their journey home proceeds smoothly, safely, and in good health,” he added.

In the same statement, Eddy strongly condemned the actions of the Israeli authorities, arguing that the detention violated international law and fundamental humanitarian principles.

“We condemn the actions of the Israeli government, which have breached international law and disregarded humanitarian values. The safety of civilians and humanitarian workers must be respected and protected,” he emphasized.

While acknowledging the strong solidarity among Indonesians toward the Palestinian cause, Eddy urged the public to exercise caution when engaging in humanitarian missions in conflict zones.

“We call on those who wish to carry out humanitarian efforts to remain vigilant. The risks are significant, and the safety of our citizens must not be compromised,” he said.

He concluded by reiterating Indonesia’s support and prayers for the people of Palestine, particularly in Gaza, hoping for peace, justice, and the restoration of their rights and dignity.

“We continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Gaza and across Palestine, that they may soon regain their sovereignty, rights, and dignity, and be free from violence and aggression,” said Eddy, who also serves as a member of the House of Representatives’ Commission XII.
