The Gapura Nusantara Volunteers eagerly wanted to take photos with Ganjar. Moreover, they were also vying to shake hands with him.
“Ganjar, Mas Ganjar, Pak Ganjar,” shouted the volunteers, and Ganjar responded with a smile and greetings.
Hundreds of Gapura Nusantara Volunteers then declared their support for Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate in the 2024 Election. The Founder and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Gapura Nusantara Volunteers, Navy Admiral (Ret.) Bernard Kent Sondakh expressed full support for Ganjar Pranowo as the 2024 presidential candidate.
“Today, we declare and express our support for Ganjar Pranowo. I want to emphasize to all RGN fighters that the meaning of this declaration is a promise and loyalty. We promise wholeheartedly to support Ganjar Pranowo as the 2024 presidential candidate until we raise the victory flag at the pinnacle of the Indonesian nation,” he said.
According to him, Ganjar is a figure capable of upholding the four basic consensus of the state. He mentioned that Ganjar is also considered capable of continuing the development programs initiated by President Joko Widodo.
“We don’t want to buy a cat in a sack. Among all the presidential candidates, only Ganjar Pranowo has a clear track record, namely his ability to uphold the four basic consensus of the state. He is also willing and capable of continuing President Jokowi’s development programs. We don’t want to change presidents and start development from scratch again,” he said.
Representatives of the Gapura Nusantara volunteers then gathered on stage. The declaration of support was led by the Chairman of the Gapura Nusantara Volunteers, Navy Admiral (Ret.) Agus Setiadji, followed by the volunteers.
“With the grace and blessings of Almighty God, we will dedicate ourselves wholeheartedly, sincerely, voluntarily, and selflessly to support and fight for the victory of Mr. Ganjar Pranowo as the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia,” exclaimed the declaration from the Gapura Nusantara Volunteers at the location.
Ganjar Has Jokowi as His Mentor Ganjar Pranowo then took the stage to deliver a speech in front of hundreds of volunteers. Ganjar mentioned that President Jokowi is his mentor, even though Jokowi is labeled as a clumsy figure.
“I have a mentor in government. His name is Jokowi. Someone who is labeled as ‘clumsy’. Someone who is labeled as not smart with a very thin body,” Ganjar said in his speech.
Ganjar shared that he once asked Jokowi which photo was his favorite. Ganjar mentioned that the photo of Jokowi in the satgas (task force) uniform turned out to be Jokowi’s favorite.
“When he was running for the Jakarta Governor’s election, he had a satgas uniform and was photographed (with an open mouth pose), and I discussed with him, ‘Sir, out of all the photos that you like during the campaign, whether it’s as a mayor, governor, or president, which photo do you like the most?’ ‘I like the photo of me wearing the satgas uniform the most,’ he said,” Ganjar explained.
From that dialogue, Ganjar assesses that Jokowi is a figure who never gives up despite being insulted. He admits that he has learned an important lesson from Jokowi’s attitude.
“I feel it, him, our culture as Javanese people, people from Solo, we see it, feel free to insult me completely. You can curse me endlessly. But my steps will never stop to advance this country. That message from him is extraordinary,” Ganjar expressed.
Furthermore, Ganjar said that Jokowi is a mentor figure to him. He believes that Jokowi is a figure who has the courage to show Indonesia’s sovereignty in the political field.
“President Sukarno fell, preceded by the events of ’65, ’66 which saw a power shift with the Supersemar, in ’67 the Foreign Investment Law was established, in ’68-’69 Freeport was established, and no leader was able to take over except Jokowi,” said the Governor of Central Java.
From there, Ganjar believes that courage is not about a high-pitched tone and fierce expression. According to him, what Jokowi does is true courage.
“Somebody who never shouts, somebody who very rarely shows an angry face, very rarely, but he decides with a clear mind, with a smiling face but taken as a whole,” he said.
“That is true courage, it’s not at all about a high-pitched tone,” he added.
