Meet Prabowo, Budiman: Indonesia’s Ship Must be Paddled by Those Who Understand Strategy
Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician, Budiman Sudjatmiko, visited the residence of the Minister of Defense (Menhan) and Gerindra’s vice-presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto, last night (18/07). Budiman stated that Indonesia’s ‘large ship’ needs to be paddled by someone who understands strategy, geopolitics, and history.

He made these remarks after meeting Prabowo in Kertanegara, South Jakarta, on Tuesday night (July 18). Budiman and Prabowo held a joint press conference after the meeting.
Furthermore, he revealed that during the warm meeting, both exchanged views regarding global issues and challenges that Indonesia needs to be vigilant about. According to Budiman, the continuously changing security dynamics require Indonesia to be prepared to face various crises currently affecting other countries, such as war and health crises.
“Our nation must be saved; we are facing a war crisis, facing a health crisis, the situation has changed,” he said.
He added that the role of leaders as a ‘helm’ is crucial in leading the nation towards prosperity and maintaining national unity.
“Because Indonesia is a large ship, not just an entertainment stage,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Prabowo emphasized that national unity is the key to successfully confronting various geopolitical challenges. He believed that national unity should not be underestimated when facing such challenges.
“In our discussions, we found out that we share many similar thoughts. Amidst the current global situation, the challenges we face are not easy; we are confronting geopolitical conditions,” said Prabowo.
“So, his thoughts are that Indonesia, being a large country, needs unity. And this unity should not be taken lightly,” he continued.
